i recently heard about an interesting exhibition and was disappointed that i would not be able to get to it - then i came across a link to it online, so i get to see it anyway!
it is an exhibition of cloth fragments left with foundlings who were handed over to a london orphanage - the mother kept the other half so that she could show it if/when she came to reclaim her child - i had heard of mothers leaving small tokens or objects cut in half, but not fabric
i know you won't be able to get there so have a look here instead - i'll also put the link into on our wavelength on the right

Thanks Eva for the link to this exhibition it is amazing that the collection still exists. I had read about it on Gina Ferrari's blog and also saw some images she had taken when she visited the exhibition but seeing the slide show accompanied by the haunting music was very moving and left me feeling quite sad. My friend and I felt the same when we viewed an exhibition of Canadian quilts in the Quilt museum in York last year. The quilts had been donated to English families during the war with stories attached. Sets one wondering what happened to all the babies!!
