A New Year Begins

It never ceases to amaze me how preparations for Christmas take such a long time and yet it is over so quickly and the new year begins to race away!!


I am so glad that everyone enjoyed Christmas as we did with our family and are now looking forward to a creative year on the Textile front.


This pale font colour has been chosen to help make me feel cooler as we are experiencing extreme humidity (which I dislike intensely)after all the rain that we have had over the past few weeks. We try to hold off turning on the air conditioning for as long as we can but it is tempting to hit the button when even just sitting causes one to perspire. Luckily our house keeps very dry and the yard has good run off even with very heavy rain so we are most fortunate and I can't imagine how soul destroying the floods must be particularly for those people who had their homes flooded only a few weeks prior to these present floods.
Let's hope things improve for them soon.


You have been busy Wendy with the start of your new quilt and it certainly is looking good so far. The strips are interesting and remind me of Eva's weaving (do visit her blog if you haven't already). Not being a quilter the idea you have for the picture stitching along the fabrics looks quite daunting. Would you use thread to match the background fabric or choose a contrasting thread?

Looks like Chris is going to have a busy year too with your exhibition. How many pieces will you need to have and what venue do you use? Do you need to be there each day during the exhibition?

Last week we went to the movies with our daughter-in-law and saw "The King's Speech" which we thoroughly enjoyed as it was one of the best films we have seen during 2010 and well worth seeing just from the historical point of view even if you aren't regular film goers.
