i thought you might like to see some of the stuff i've been drooling over at stroud international textile festival - i heard it's the only u.k. festival of it's kind outside london, but i haven't heard of anything like this in london either - it's spread over 3 weeks, includes talks, seminars and workshops by nationally and internationally know textile artists and experts, as well as other events like a world textile fair and open studios

anyway from "WordPlay", mostly details from works on that theme by Tilleke Schwartz, Debbie, Smyth, Jessica Turrell and Clyde Olliver

if you click on the slideshow panel in the right place it will take you to my picassa thing and let you see this in full size

also went to an exhibition by a collaboration between 2 textile artists in paris, didn't take photos but go here to have a look

  1. What a wonderful textile festival to visit. Thanks for the photos Eva. Tilleke has been tutor at a couple of TAFTA Forums I've attended so her work is familiar to me. I find it has a naive quality which is quite delightful.

The site for the Paris artists Corinne and her friend is amazing and some of their work is just mindblowing in the detail of how they achieved some of the pieces. I particularly liked the Tapestry Series and the translucency of the Rideau piece is just lovely and where it was hung would mean that the look would change throughout the day as the light behind changed.
